Rome full-time course

This comprehensive course is designed to maximise your potential and give you the time to develop your personal riding ability. The long course duration allows you the freedom and flexibility to prepare for all aspects of your instructing exams, whilst still enjoying all that the Mt Ruapehu winter season has to offer.

2010 dates: July 27th - October 27th

2010 course cost: NZ$12,999

All courses are quoted in NZ$ and are inclusive of GST. Course costs exclude airfares to and from New Zealand, and your food.

Course prerequisite

No formal snowboard training is necessary, all we ask is that you be an intermediate or above level rider at the minimum. We define this as riding with balance and control on all groomed terrain, utilising some early edge changes (before the fall-line) and a variation of turn size and shape. This extends to performing some basic freestyle (i.e. switch riding and ollies/airs) and showing confidence on advanced terrain, including black runs and some off piste areas. You must own appropriate equipment but, most importantly, have the willingness to learn and the ambition to achieve your goals.

The Rome full-time course includes:

  • Season pass to Mt Ruapehu, including both Whakapapa and Turoa ski areas

  • Transport to and from Whakapapa ski area on scheduled training days

  • On snow training; 5hrs per day, 3 days per week

  • Lesson shadowing and teaching practice in conjunction with Whakapapa Snow School

  • Video analysis and technical study sessions

  • SBINZ Level One exam
